Eye-Fi Announces New SD Cards

Eye-Fi dropped some new features for their Wi-Fi enabled SD cards for digital cameras, and it appears that they’ve actually been taking notice to customer requests.

The new features will be rolled out in three new models of the Eye-Fi card, all with storage capabilities of 2GB. Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Eye-Fi Explore [$129]: The most expensive model includes one year worth of automatic hotspot uploads via Wayport and also includes Wi-Fi geo-tagging via Skyhook.
  • Eye-Fi Share [$99]: This model is the same as the current version of the Wi-Fi card; uploads via preprogrammed networks and integrates with Flickr and other services.
  • Eye-Fi Home [$79]: This is the most basic and stripped down version; which includes preprogrammed network uploads but no online integration.

The fresh features are certainly positive. But you’ll be paying much more than purchasing a standard SD card. You could probably buy over a dozen 2gb SD card for the price of one Eye-Fe Explore.
